Amsterdam University Press and Arc Humanities Press to strengthen cooperation in new publishing agreement

Effective from 1 August 2017, Amsterdam University Press (AUP) and Arc Humanities Press have signed a new publishing agreement strengthening their relationship and ambition to continue on the path towards becoming leading academic publishers in the field of history.

The agreement builds on the existing collaboration between the two presses in their acquisitions and marketing activities, and will see development in both AUP and Arc Humanities Press’s portfolios.

The publishing consortium of AUP, Arc Humanities Press and Medieval Institute Publications (MIP), a university press based at Western Michigan University renowned for its annual medieval congress, contract over two hundred scholarly titles a year.

AUP publish academic books, journals and textbooks in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and publish more than thirty titles in history each year. Their series cover late antique, medieval and early modern European history, as well as broader cultural heritage and contemporary studies, including topics such as memory studies and genocide.

Arc Humanities Press is the publishing arm of the learned society CARMEN Worldwide Medieval Network and specialises in global pre-modern history, reference books, and digital humanities and cultural heritage.

Jan-Peter Wissink, Director of Amsterdam University Press, and Arc Humanities Press Director Simon Forde say that they “are convinced that our ambition to become one of the top four academic publishers globally in the field of history will be realised in only a few years from now thanks to this agreement.”
